About Us 

Autumnwood Arboriculture and Ecology Ltd. was founded in 2025 by Alexander Lowe.

Alex completed his undergraduate degree in Ecology and Environmental Management at The University of Edinburgh in 2015. He then served as an Assistant Conservation Officer (Arboriculture) at Broadland District Council before moving into consultancy as an Arboricultural Consultant in Norfolk in 2019. From 2023, Alex worked within a national multi-disciplinary consultancy as a senior and then principal ecological and arboricultural consultant, culminating in leading the national arboriculture team as an Associate Director.

Across his nine years in the arboriculture and ecology industries, Alex has been the lead arboriculture consultant for four Development Consent Order applications for offshore wind and solar developments in Yorkshire, Northamptonshire and Norfolk. As part of these projects, Alex led the survey work, prepared the reports and worked collaboratively in large multi-disciplinary teams to deliver a clear and coherent approach to arboricultural impact assessment and tree protection for the client and the project. 

Alex has also led the ecology and arboriculture surveys and reporting for small and medium sized residential housing planning applications, Battery Energy Storage System projects, conversion of barns to commercial use, urban redevelopments in Norwich, a Visitor Centre for an ecologically sensitive country park and the redevelopment of a 30 hectare site containing ancient woodland for educational facilities.

Alex also has extensive experience helping clients to achieve their Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) ambitions, for example working with a local planning authority to develop Biodiversity Enhancement Plans across 21 sites in Norfolk to improve biodiversity and achieve 10% BNG. Alex has also helped clients to develop 30 year Habitat Management and Monitoring Plans and register their Site as a habitat bank as well as finding cost-effective BNG solutions for development.
